A walk along the Kaw

On Saturday, while Daphne was at Snow Queen rehearsal, Sophie & I took a walk together, just the two of us.  It was the first bit of uninterrupted mother-daughter time we’ve had since….well, probably since when Daphne was born (probably not, but it feels that way).  We walked from the Lawrence Arts Center North across the Kansas River, then along the Levee and had a wonderful time.  The weather was absolutely beautiful that day, and we took our time, stopping to look at the birds, the water, and whatever other shiny-nifty caught our eye.
It was so much fun, that on Sunday, while Sophie was at her Snow Queen Rehearsal, I took Daphne for a walk with me.   Also on a beautiful day, I couldn’t have been more thrilled.  Soon, though, I realized just how much difference 20 months makes.  Sophie and Daphne are so close in height that it’s easy to forget how young Daphne really is.  I didn’t expect to walk quite as far with Daphne, but I also didn’t expect her little legs to get so tired so soon.  Most of the way back to the Arts Center, I carried her on my back.  Let me tell you how far it really is from the River to the Arts Center with a 50 + pound Daph-pack on your back!  Yikes!  Anyway, here are some fun pictures of the outing:
